One of our members is working on an informal step-guide for ITAA. It is still in progress, but if you’d like to read it, you can find the current draft here:
While we continue to write literature, we also encourage those suffering from internet and technology addiction to read other 12-step literature and discuss it with other ITAA members.
As IT addicts, we have found much wisdom in Overeaters Anonymous literature. In particular, The 12 Steps and 12 Traditions of Overeaters Anonymous, and The Twelve-Step Workbook of Overeaters Anonymous are great resources. They are a useful reference because OA members cannot abstain from food, just as many ITAs also have to use IT most days. The Overeaters Anonymous The Steps Made Simple pamphlet is also a helpful primer on how to work the steps.
Clutterers Anonymous is also a useful reference, as some ITAs practice “digital hoarding”, obsessively collecting and consuming digital content.
